Freshening up for spring around the house

Every year I’m so excited when the calendar turns to March.  We’re ticking down the last winter days and then it’s time for spring!Welcome spring

Spring is definitely my favorite season.  Flowers begin to bloom, temperatures start to rise, and everything just feels more cheery after the drabness of winter.

That means it’s time to start freshening up for spring around the house.  Spring cleaning brings a dose of renewed order, but it’s more fun to liven up the decor for spring!

These are a few of my favorite ways to welcome spring at our home.

Rotate art.  Do you have seasonal artwork that you switch out during the year?  I love the symbolic changing of the seasons with particular pieces of decor.

Winter is my least favorite season, but I have a couple of winter-specific prints that I hang each year. They have a lot of sentimental value for us because they belonged to my mother-in-law.  They give the place a warm and cozy feel that our family enjoys during the wintertime.  When spring rolls around, though, it’s time to swap out the winter art with some light, floral prints to match the season.

I also like to use seasonal printables that I can rotate regularly to keep things interesting around the house.

Bring the outdoors inside.  Nothing says spring like flowers and greenery!  It’s refreshing to see the beauty of nature on display – whether you get a bouquet with some fresh flowers, bring home a new indoor plant, or decorate with pretty artificial blooms and greenery.

Update the front door.  It’s fun to update the front door with a seasonal wreath!  I love my cheery yellow front door because it’s a lively and inviting accent for our home year-round.  The wreath on the door helps set the tone for each season in the entry.  A spunky spring wreath is a great way to welcome everyone who walks through the front door.

Break out the spring scents.  I love to open windows and let in the fresh air in the spring!  But I have a son who gets seasonal allergies, and my springtime fresh air joy equals his nasal nightmare.  So I do the next best thing and round up some springtime scents to perk up our indoors.  I especially enjoy light floral scents like lilac and honeysuckle in the spring.

Sponsored pick:  This year I was happy to receive a free kit from Renuzit to try their new Renuzit Sensitive Scents collection.  They have introduced scented oils, sprays, and adjustable cones with lovely fragrances that are perfect for freshening up for spring around the house.

I received three fragrances: pure water blossom and cucumber, pure ocean breeze, and pure white pear and lavender.  I like all of the scents.  They’re light and pleasant because they were designed and lab-tested to refresh the air without overpowering the senses.

The true test for the Renuzit Sensitive Scents was with my mom.  She’s the most scent-sensitive person I know, and she enjoyed the scents.  She often finds fragrances too strong, but she said these were very nice – something she could use regularly.

I must say, the odor neutralizer spray is especially handy when teenage boys come inside after playing sports in the backyard!  Just a little spritz of the spray really helps freshen the air.  The scented oil warmer makes a great first impression by the front door, and the adjustable cone tucks into the kids’ bathroom as a refreshing touch.
