National Parks

  • April 19-20 – Opening weekend of National Park Week
  • August 25 – National Park Service Birthday
  • September 27 – National Public Lands Day
  • November 11 – Veterans Day

More information is available on the national parks web site.

  • Museum Day Live!    To celebrate the spirit of the Smithsonian Museums (which are always free), Smithsonian Magazine organizes the annual Museum Day Live! event for free admission to museums across the United States.  The 2014 date, tickets, and information are coming in the spring on the event web site.
  • FreeMuseumDay.org.  This web site lists free museum days available in several cities: Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Portland, San Francisco, and Seattle.  The web site says to check back for additional cities.
  • Bank of America Museums on Us.  Bank of America/Merrill Lynch customers have access to one free general admission pass to more than 150 museums through the country on the first full weekend of the month.
  • Blue Star Families Military families have access to free museum admissions through the Blue Star Museums program, which runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
