New in the US – Dessange California Blonde hair care products

Is it just me, or do things automatically seem fancy if they’re from France?  The Dessange hair care products have some serious fancy cred.  They’ve been around since the 1950s in France, introduced by Jacques Dessange, celebrity hairstylist who developed a network of luxury salons and became the Official Hairstylist at the Cannes Film Festival.  Now the Dessange hair products are being introduced to the United States.

The Dessange lineup of products promises to bring the French luxury salon experience to us at home.  I was happy to have the opportunity to try them, complimentary of Influenster.  I received the Dessange California Blonde products for color-treated blonde hair, including the  illuminating shampoo and conditioner, as well as color correcting creme.

When Influenster notified me that I would be receiving hair products to test, I expected to receive trial-size versions.  I was pleasantly surprised to receive full-size bottles – the shampoo is 8.5 ounces, and the conditioner is 6.7 ounces.

With plenty of product, I’ve had the opportunity to use the shampoo and conditioner for more than a week now to thoroughly evaluate them.  I’ve had a great experience using both of them.

My first impression of the Dessange California Blonde illuminating shampoo was the scent.  The bottle lists passion fruit extracts on the front, so I was expecting it to have a light floral fragrance.  The smell was a bit stronger than I expected.  It was quite a change from my other shampoo, which has a fresh, light peppermint tone.  At first I wasn’t sure about the heavier floral scent, but it has grown on me.  I made my family do a sniff test, and they say it smells good.

One of my favorite aspects of the shampoo is that my hair rinses clean quickly – it’s not hard to get all of the lather out of my hair.  My hair also feels relatively tangle-free, even after just the shampoo.  With most shampoos, my hair feels completely tangled after rinsing.

The best thing about the Dessange California Blonde products is that the conditioner smooths most of the remaining tangles out of my hair without completely flattening it.  When I comb through my hair after my shower, it’s so smooth – but still has body.  That makes me very happy!

I have naturally straight hair that tends to lack volume.  Many shampoo and conditioner sets I’ve tried leave my hair either:  1.  too tangled and hard to manage but with body, or 2. smooth but flat.  The Dessange California Blonde products gave me the best of both worlds – smooth hair that is not dull and lifeless.

These are moisturizing products for color-treated hair, but thankfully the moisturizers don’t make it seem oily.  My hair feels great and can even go an extra day before washing it again (on a non-workout day, of course).  That’s a plus for blonde colored hair, to help the color last without becoming dull.

My Influenster box came with the Dessange California Blonde color correcting creme to alleviate brassy tones in color-treated blonde hair. I haven’t had a need to try the color correcting creme just yet, since I’m currently happy with my hair color. I’m glad to have the color correcting creme on hand to use as needed, especially since I’m pleased with the results of my other Dessange products. I’ll do a follow-up post later after trying the color correcting creme.

I’m very pleased with my hair after using these products for more than a week.  I can now say I #JadoreDessange!
